Like last year, I'm toying

Like last year, I'm toying with the idea of doing the Texas Love the Half challenge. It'd be a way of keeping my motivation and my running at the level I'll need for a Half Ironman on April 1. It would involve doing 6 half marathons (or greater) between October and May. There are lots of choices, but already knowing that I won't be in town for the Houston Half at the end of this month, my six would probably be:

Nov 19, 2006 Houston, TX
HMSA 25K

Dec 9, 2006 Huntsville, TX
SunMart 25K (does the 25K exist?)

Jan 14, 2007 Houston, TX
Houston Marathon & Half Marathon

Feb 10, 2007 Surfside, TX
Surfside Half Marathon

Feb 18, 2007 Austin, TX
AT&T Marathon and Half Marathon

Mar 18, 2007 Seabrook, TX
Seabrook Luck Trail Marathon & Half Marathon

Dang. That's a lot of running, especially the March 18 event basically two weeks before the Galveston Tri (which I am also doing). Hmmmmmmm.

Hadn't really thought about the Mar 18 one being so close. I may reconsider. But running is by far my worst of the 3 sports, and is the one that will make or break me. I want to make sure I have the goals and the motivation to get in the mileage...

Hey Sarah, I could be wrong but if memory serves me correctly, the 25k in Huntsville is October 21st (well, I know that part...) but SunMart is 50k/50miles. No 25's.

Their race the 1st week of April - Hog's Hunt is both; 25k/50k (but no mileage races).

Does that make sense?
10/21 - 25k/50k
December - 50k/50miles
April - 25k/50k

all I know is Austin is the morning after our wedding-- I hope you're coming and I promise it to be a crazy party! Can you run hung over?!

Not to be at all critical. I just know marathons beat me to death and running is the only place I really court injury. For me that two weeks after a marathon would be insufficient taper to tackle a half-iron.
