let's go to the movies / let's go see the stars

First I've heard of it -- Spielberg is making a movie of War of the Worlds. Tom Cruise, Dakota Fanning, and Tim Robbins star. I can't tell how close it is to the book from this teaser trailer, but either way, I hope it will be good.

And I remember hearing about a new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka, but the trailer makes it look...worrisome.

The Willy Wonka movie looks weird, maybe it's my affection for the original but it looks different from what I expected.

The Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Willy Wonka) trailer looks awful! But I have great confidence in both Tim Burton and in Johnny Dep. I think it has a chance to be quite good. Here's hoping. Here's another upcoming film you may not be aware of: a new Wallace & Gromit movie scheduled to be released in 2005. "Curse of the Wererabbit." :)

Dunno about Willy Wonka. I could tell it was a Tim Burton film from the colors and style (reminded me of Beetlejuice). But yeah, it doesn't look too captivating.

Dunno about War of the Worlds, either. Matt and I were wondering if they would use the floating alien craft seen in the movie from a few decades ago or the walkers described in HG Wells' work. Me, I'd like to see both. :)

Whew...I had heard awful rumors about Marilyn Manson getting the part of Willy Wonka and appearing for the first time without his make up. I am so glad that isn't true. I don't know why I didn't think of Johnny! Duh! Who better for the part. Although the irony of soccer moms watching their favorite man to looby against next to EMINEM is a strange but great stab. Wish I could see the trailer, but I would have to download something which is a no-no at work. I am sure it will be creepy and wonderful as Tim Burton is known for though! Thanks for relieving my angst!!

Marilyn Manson would've been great for the Willy Wonka part. And FYI Johnny Depp is actually a fan and friend of Marilyn Manson.
